Dark Lord in his Tower

Full power to one library or 2-3 of your favourites?

What do you find works best?

heres what i was thinking:

light is required for without magic ban you are far too exposed to the twists of fate.
shame about eth focus and wealth suddenly destroying your magic but protection aura and blessing upon the dragons (which are the true might of your tower) buff them up nicely.
now going 100% light which i guess it being such a costly magic type means 6 libraries may well negate all forms of magical assault upon your armies amd allows excellant levels of upkeep. but does the return on the really high levels reap dividends? i feel that perhaps 3 towers is the optimum.

the other option is to buff the armies with a mixture of the low level spells from other libraries: death blades, oak skin and flaming swords. pretty much stack the whole lot upon them. right pain to recast after someone takes a distinct dislike and decides to lay your tower to waste. dont like that idea much

but light alone? ah i like to think i am a nice enough fella, but to pretend i am pure gold would be a fallacy. You cannot have light without darkness or there is nothing worth viewing... so where to express the more interesting side of my nature.

chaos seems to sum it perfectly

3 chaos and 3 light with flaming swords and fire balls. wrath and mercy.
death? all negated by anybody with half an idea what they are about no? except death blades which looks like a nice boost.
nature appears superb and would be the other obvious choice to complement. hurricanes and oak skin would be nice additions for sure.

i wonder if any of you manage to go full 8 libraries and then farm 100% of your magic... nice fireball that would be.

so... my thoughts lead me to 3x chaos and 3x light
or 2x chaos 2 x light 2 x nature
or 3 x light 3 x nature
and death be damned
might even go pure light if the protection boost is as effective as it appears at first.
love to go pure chaos but would require a superb set up to do that and not harm my tower overall.

also some of you should try setting up with all these farms around. it is like walking upon eggshells.
i am surrounded by monsterous mages who could devour me at a whim, not sure how long the silver dragons would hold out for *hides in the basement as the cold eyes of the forum start to scan the surroundings for somebody to beat up on* 1 round? doubt that.

thats a shame because i have grown fond of them, nice having them about. every tower around me is empty of loot when i raid so it seems most of you are pretty supportive of someone trying to build, thanks.
is 3x chaos going to have enough bite? light at high levels, the returns do they equate to the costs?

what are your favourite spells and which do you consider useless?

hmm
well i do hope they can fix the mana/bugs .. the spells what end after a while are very expensive to recast ,, but i noticed myself that the combinattion of chaos and light is a deadly combination ..
my favorite spells are reign of fire. fire ball and bursts .. ban magic is ideal to remove even the bufs spells of enemy units ..

RE: Dark Lord in his Tower

yeah thanks saphire
i was looking over the early threads by Destroyance.
shame about the huge magic costs for it but i am definately erring towards pure light.
extrapolating nature and chaos as the main look fantastic choices but i am a bit put off by the concept of healing slowly.

also i want a high lvl spell to cast truth be told.

made 1 chaos library to lvl 8 but i think i will tear her down eventualy for light and magic costs be hanged.

i take it back about death libraries too if used in conjunction with allies they would totaly pwn.

still early days

then yer need to have some arcane focuses .. or find an easy to loot harvest tower with HIGH power loot ,, as them healing spells are very expensive ,, except the healing land version .. that just takes time ..
how higher that 1 is , how better ,, and that ones cost is rather cheap ,., but yer cant controll what yer heailing ,.

RE: Dark Lord in his Tower

i thought i had just that but in the last 24 hours the towers i have been looting have either been full of javelins from other wizzards or vanished.

i kinda doubt they will wish to share the wealth with me
i see what you mean about magic costs it is all well and good to assume it will work wonderfully but with all the buffs maxed and with the expense of the spells themselves magic is going to be a real issue. add to that the fact that wealth can wipe your magic out by itself if you fall asleep too long and it starts getting difficult to balance.

also i cannot make a pest of myself in any fashion with simply light. in fact looking at the others you can at least strike out when reduced to rubble... you can do something which may effect your foe later down the line. had i gone 1 light and 3 chaos i might even kill a unit or two, not much maybe but i would feel much better.
light seems to rely heavily on being extremaly active and very very well balanced. one slip and you are down to 0 magic with no dragons and no defense.
still you have to play the hand you are dealt and i have a spare 2 libraries. could go down to two light and eventualy 1 without drastic effects. shame though up till now my growth has been excellant. have to see how it all goes.

If you want to be a really to magician you have to decide for one macigal direction!

The best ones are Light and Nature! Light is slightly better, but the libraries take longer to build.

Fire is also interesting and in a big ally battle it can be a great advantage! however, you'll need good Guildmates for healing and other spells!

I have had the honour of meeting a full nature mage and have to admit it was pretty impressive
After a couple of thunderstroms with incredible strength he was kind enough to grant me a few days of gais blessing which was a huge boost.

Don't like feeding off other people though however i have huge excess gold atm and a great need for wood.

Surely as your tower nears completion wood goes through the roof? not much to spend it on.

might see if some of the towers around me would like to have shared raids, they can hit me for my gold excess and i them to increase my wood supply somewhat. Between the pair we could achieve some balance.

so what is stopping me? rofl... you should see them there. i exist because atm they cannot be bothered... who needs that kind of hassle :D

got a plan though.. there is one who appears to be asleep. has he left his dragons or has someone killed them? if they are dead i can grab that lumber.

so when you see a tiny band of javalins looting your farm remember me and feel free to chuck a fireball my way to say hi... thats the problem. A Wizzard should have a fireball. without that just a guy with a silly hat. oh well.

This thread is great

I'll sum up my thoughts

Mixed magic types < Pure magic types

For those who think death is stupid a high level poverty can lower production over one hundred percent It may not be useful but amazing none the less.

High level fireballs hit almost 100% of an army

high level unclouded sky can remove almost anything in five minutes...

high level heal army perfectly counters max level fireballs

Then again if you have no friends who can help you with other types I would go with Nature. You can heal, buff, damage, and protect. It is the best "all around" type in my opinion. Not be best overall though. The best overall is chaos. High level fireballs make healing almost unnecessary.
